Music Block

Music Block

The Music block plays background music. Any previously playing track stops automatically and is replaced by the new one, and the track loops as long as the game keeps running.

Key Properties

  • Music File (musicUrl) — Click the folder button next to the field and pick an audio file from the asset picker. You cannot type an address directly.

How It Relates to the Background Block

The Background block used to have its own music field, so a scene transition could change the track at the same time. That field now appears only on Background blocks that already have music set (that music still plays), and new music is added with a Music block. Place a Music block in cases like:

  • Changing the track along with the location — put it right after the Background block
  • Changing the mood without changing the location
  • Intentionally delaying music for a specific dramatic effect

Usage Tips

  • Choose loop-friendly tracks — Music repeats while the game plays, so short tracks that loop smoothly work best.
  • Prefer OGG — At comparable quality, OGG is smaller than MP3, which helps loading and bandwidth.
  • Silence when needed — If a scene calls for silence, use a Stop music block to explicitly cut the music.
