Publishing Policy (18+ / Sharing)
Publishing Policy (18+ / Sharing)
How widely your game is shown is decided by two things: the 18+ Content setting and the share link. The 18+ Content item sits at the top of the Game settings panel, and sharing is turned on and off with the [Share] button in the header. Since these decide the nature of your game and how widely it is shown, it is a good idea to decide on them before diving into production.
18+ Content
Since May 2, 2026, Novelez no longer shares 18+ content.
- New projects don't show the 18+ setting. Only projects that were already marked 18+ still show it at the top of the Game settings panel.
- Projects marked 18+ can't be shared. The [Share] button is disabled and shows a notice that the 18+ content policy has ended.
- Your project is not deleted. It stays in your studio and you can keep editing it.
- If your game has no adult content, turn off the 18+ toggle and save to share it again. Note that you can turn off 18+ only when the project is not in a review state (approved, pending, or rejected projects show a status badge instead of a toggle).
Sharing and the Gallery
The Novelez gallery is private to protect creators' copyright. Other users cannot browse for your work in a gallery; your game can be shown only through share links.
- Click [Share] in the header to create a share link. Anyone who receives the link can play right away without signing in.
- Shared games are not indexed by search engines, so only people who receive the link directly can see them.
- You can stop sharing at any time from the [Shared] button. Once you do, the same link will no longer open the game.

See the "Share Link" page for details.
Which Games Should Be Marked 18+?
Please mark games with explicit adult depictions (nudity, sexual content) as 18+. Ordinary romance or light action/violence typically does not need to be classified as 18+. When in doubt, it is safer to apply the stricter standard.
A Note About Your Content
Novelez is a platform that makes it easy for anyone to create visual novels. All content used in your game — images, music, videos, writing — and its legal responsibility belongs to the creator who produced and uploaded it. Regardless of whether the 18+ setting is enabled, please create within the bounds of your local laws and public decency.
Administrators may remove content without prior notice if they judge it to be excessively sexual or violent, or otherwise potentially in conflict with the law. Accounts with repeated or severe violations may have their service access restricted or revoked. We kindly ask for your understanding on this point.
